Classification : Lichida - Odontopleurina - Odontopleuroidea
Représentant type de cette famille : Odontopleura (Emmrcih, 1839)

Diagnose générale de cette famille :
Céphalon : d’une façon globale le céphalon est rectangulaire et convexe.
Glabelle large à l’anneau occipital et s’affinant vers le bourrelet frontal.
La «Lobation» est moins complexe que dans la famille des Lichidae, possédant 2
Ou 3 paires de lobes bien distincts dont la forme remonte vers l’avant du céphalon.
La surface générale du céphalon est souvent recouverte de tubercules ou d’épines.
Champ pré-glabellaire absent. Suture faciale de type «Opisthoparian».
Lobe palpébral de taille moyenne ; présence de crêtes oculaires, yeux de petites
Tailles qui peut être aussi sur pédoncule. Anneau occipital pourvu de nombreuses
Pointes (chez Dudleyapis) ou d’un seul pointe (chez Acidapis).
Librigène bien développée, il apparait sur la partie extérieure du librigène de
nombreuses pointes s’agrandissant vers l’angle génal. Angle génal se terminant
toujours par une longue pointe génale
Thorax : composé de 8 à 10 segments thoraciques. Rachis s’effilant vers le pygidium
Portant de nombreux tubercules ou pointes suivant les genres. Idem pour les
Plèvres, se finissant aussi en belle pointes fines. Présence de courtes et fines pointes
Intermédiaires entre extrémités de plèvres. Possible présence de sillons inter-pleuraux.
Pygidium : de forme semi-ciculaire, avec rachis comportant 2 ou 3 anneaux.
Sillons pleuraux visible fusionnés en grosses pointes pygidiales. Pourtour de la bordure
Extérieure souvent agrémentée de fines et longues pointes.
Surface épineuse ou/et granuleuse.

Répartition : du Cambrien Moyen au Dévonien supérieur

Attractive exemplary of Moroccan "Dicranurus", horns have were restuck, but the rest is of origin.

Salut Crozo,

nice piece;-) A fine Dicranurus you have there.

Only a short remark, please try to avoid the term "Hamar Lagdad Formation", such a formation did not exist. In fact the horizons with Dicranurus are a part of the Ihandar Formation, named after a small village at the north-eastern side of the Issoumour. The location is part of the Maider basin and has nothing in common with the Hamar Lagdad mud mound facies.
