Hallo allerseits,

ich nutze die Gelegenheit mal ein Fundgebiet in Belgien kurz vorzustellen, nämlich das Dinant Synklinorium und mir hier besonders den Süden rauszupicken, wo Kalke aus dem Eifel-Givet Grenzbereich (Hanonet Formation) interessante Trilobiten in guter Schalenerhaltung geliefert haben.

Leider gehören ganze Trilobiten wohl zu den Seltenheiten, werden aber gelegentlich gefunden. Allert van Viersen und uns Harald Prescher haben sich in den letzten Jahren einen Namen gemacht, indem sie sich um die dort vorkommenden Faunen gekümmert haben und einiges an neuen Arten beschrieben haben.

Es gibt eine interessante Homepage zu den Fundorten im Dinant Synklinorium, so dass man sich schnell einen Einblick in die dortigen Gegebenheiten verschaffen kann. Wie die Sammel- und Fundmöglichkeiten heute sind, kann ich aufgrund mangelnder Erfahrung nicht sagen, aber vielleicht kann Fred ja etwas dazu sagen.

The Hanonet formation is indeed very interesting, with quite some exquisitely preserved species. The author of the website you're pointing at, Alfer, is also doing a super job on prepping them.

Complete specimens are indeed very rare (but I have seen them found by others, haha).

And yes, there are some locations where you can find material from this formation, the abandoned quarry of Resteigne being the principal one, however most good material has been searched through over the years. But you can still find trilobites there.

thanks for the additional informations. And the visit in Belgium, I never was there, may be time to change that. Perhaps next year, don't it yet, but why not. If I have time it should be possible for few days. And many thanks for the offer, I think it will be funny to meet you and search for some trilobites.
