Hallo Allerseits,

heute möchte ich euch einen ordovizischen Ceraurus plattinensis vorstellen.
Es ist ein Eigenfund aus Kanada, denn ich nun endlich präparieren konnte.

Typisch für diese Fundstelle ist die starke kompaktierung des Sediments und damit auch des Trilobitens. Auch dieser Ceraurus blieb nicht verschont.
Interessant ist die Oberfläche Struktur des Matrixes.
Die Oberfläche ist "beulenartig" ausgeprägt und den Ceraurus hat es in eine kleine Mulde gedrückt.
Leider kann ich nicht sagen, wie diese "Beulen" entstanden ist, vielleicht bei der Entwässerung des Sedimentes?

Leider war der Ceraurus beim Fund an der rechten Seite leicht Verwittert, weshalb ein paar Stacheln und Pleurenspitzen fehlen.

Hoffe euch gefällt der kleine Ausflug ins Ordovizium.

that you guys like this specimen.
As far as I remember it was my best found from that quarry.
I just pick it up the stone and the trilobite was already visible below the matrix.

@ Mark: Guess we have to go back than and try to hunt for a second specimen.
